Burgett describes his 72 days of battle behind enemy lines with the 101st in Holland fighting alogside his British counterparts. He returns to Son, Eindhoven, St. Cedenrode, Koevering, Veghel, Uden, Grave, Hijmegen, Opeusden, and Driel near the bridge at Arnhem. Burgett highlights the monument in Son, the first monument to be dedicated to the 101st airborne in Holland.
Part III: Bastogne
Donald R. Burgett recalls and describes the many battles in and around Bastogne that he took part in. He visits the Mardasson Memorial at Bastogne dedicated to all who fought in the “Battle of the Bulge”. Part IV: Germany & Austria
Burgett returns to Hitler's Eagles Nest high in the Alps of Germany, revisiting memories of the final days of Hitler's Third Reich. While there, Burgett visits Dachau and returns to the concentration camp at Landsburg. Hitler, with the aid of Rudolph Hess, wrote “Mein Kampf” while imprisoned there before he took power. Burgett ends his return visit in Austria where he and his comrades spent their last days together before returning home.
